Osteoporosis Treatment - Zoledronate

We would like to let you know about a medication (Aclasta - Zoledronate) which has been used in the hospital for many years and is now available in General Practice.

This is an option for those who are struggling to take Fosamax (Alendronate). This is given by a Nurse over a 15 minute period through an infusion into your vein. There is no need to be on monthly Fosamax if you are on this medication.

At present this is done once a year for three years which is followed by a bone scan to see if you need any more.

Please make an appointment to see your Doctor to discuss this further if interested.
