Measles Outbreak Auckland 2014

Measles is a serious and highly infectious disease. There has been 40 confirmed cases of measles outbreak in Auckland so far. The last outbreak of measles in Auckland was in 2011-12, with 500 cases and 82 requiring hospital admission

Measles symptoms starts with high fever 10 days after exposure to the virus. This is followed by these symptoms : runny nose, cough, red eyes, small white spots inside the mouth. A red blotchy rash on the neck and face appears three or four days later before spreading to the rest of the body.
