Joint Injections

Joint injections are usually done for pain and inflammation. Sometimes they are done to diagnose certain conditions including infection or inflammation like an arthritis by aspirating the joint fluid for lab analysis.

A steroid and a local anaesthetic is often used to reduce inflammation and pain

The common reasons the joints are injected are due to arthritis caused by age related degeneration or inflammatory conditions like gout. Shoulder are commonly injected for impingement symptoms

We also inject soft tissue issues like carpal tunnel syndrome, trigerring of fingers, tennis and golfers elbow, painful thumb condition called De Quervains disease
